out to audio editor ? CTRL+E ??

I wonder what is this tool for? do you ever use it ?

As clever as it may seams in practicality it is basically useless.

I have a trimmed event on the timeline and wanted to take that section out to audacity. So I right click open in audio editor/CTRL+E

Audacity opened quickly only to find out it loads the full 35min 23sec12f raw footage and not the 08sec 03f sound I wanted.

By doing so not only I will need to find where the hell the sound I needed but to be very careful not to overshoot trimming as it will get me into VMS sync issue.

My 2c, if you can't do it right you better drop that from the menu and shortcuts.

On the other hand, mending it and make it a blast is very easy to program you know....

Or I'm totally missing the point and not using this feature correctly.

If you rightclick, you should have an option to open "copy" in audio editor. This will create a subclip and open the edited version of your audio. (at least it works this way in Vegas Pro). There is no keyboard shortcut for this.

The audio editor accesses the source file, that's the way it is meant to work. If I do this with Movie Studio and Sound Forge, in Sound Forge there will be automatically set a loop-region around the part of the trimmed Event I used in Movie Studio and only that part will be highlightes/selected.

Also instead I could use "Open copy in Sound Forge" which then will create a copy only of the trimmed part and send this copy out of Movie Studio.

So it's working fine for me (with Sound Forge).

Aha ! so that the way to go. indeed it works as advertised, but why no shortcut for that?

gazillion times more useful than the wasted one and is gazillion times more ez to fix.

I see no need at all for 2 options, better to drop the first and get the shortcut to do something functional.

There are some odd tools that do not have shortcuts. I guess the programmers ran out of keys. :)

Your opinion. But there are different point of views.
