Outlining an area

Hi. I am making some tutorial videos for a computer program, and I want to add an outlined box around the areas of the screen that I am talking about. I just want a simple box that that has lines that contain the area of interest. It would be cool if I could add a bit of glow to the lines but that is not important. Is there an easy way to do this? I have tried various effects with a solid color, but I can't get it to just be an outlined area. My other idea was to take a screen shot and then make transparent images in my photo edit program for the sections I need. I am running Movie Studio 17, build 223 on a Windows 10 computer. By the way, Ver 17 has an annoying habit lately of freezing. but that is a different story.

Is it the Platinum version of Movie Studio?

I don't remember exactly what effects are included, but some ideas:

- Solid color made transparent + Border effect (solid) + Picture in Picture effect or Pan/crop to change position and size

- Solid color + Bezier mask effect (rectangular to leave only an outline) + Pan/crop or Picture in Picture effect to change position and size

Otherwise, the transparent PNG with the outline box seems a good option.

Hi. It is the Platinum version. I'll play around with your suggestions. I'll have to break out the help guides for the Bezier Mask. It has been a while since I did any serious editing.

Thanks for your help!
