Hello BrianV, and thanks for writing.

There are several ways to output to VHS. Since you are
working on a PC and everything is digital, and your
ultimate goal, the VHS, is analog, you need to convert from
digital to analog. Here are three ways to do this:

1) Printing the project you are working on back out to a
digital video camera that has analog video/audio outs (S-
video, A/V). The digital camera will act as a converter,
going from digital to analog. Connect the analog out from
the DV cam to the analog in on a TV, VCR, or VHS camcorder
and then play back/record. Everything will then be
converted to analog.

2) Use a DV/AV converter. There are several of these on
the market today. The converter connects to your OHCI
compliant IEEE 1394 (Firewire, Ilink) board and acts as a
medium between your VCR and your computer. It converts the
video from digital to analog.

3) This is definitely the least preferred method (because
it is problematic), but it can work: Use an analog board to
print to tape. These cards, using their own drivers and
utilities, can convert the DV to analog and print it out to
tape.

Hope this helps!
