Output to DVD

I'm new to VF. Still in the middle of the learning curve.

Looking over the program, I didnt see anyway to output to DVD's.
Is this possible? Add on program? Do I have to get VV?

Sorry for my ignorance, but I don't want to complete a huge project and
only be able to output to VCR tape. VCD?
I'm just editing home videos, from my Sony DV camcorder, but would be nice to watch
them on DVD.

thanks for the help.

DVD Authoring isn't included in VF. Also, MPEG2 encoding isn't included in the base price of VF.
Your options are:
1) Buy the template-based MainConcept plug-in for $29.95
2) Buy the Professional Mainconcept plug-in for $99.95
3) Export your movie to your hard drive in DV AVI format, then use something like TMPGEnc ($50) to create the MPEG2.

The benefits of options 1 and 2 are that you don't have to waste time and drive space dumping your edited move to disk in DV format.

The benefit of option 3 is that TMPGEnc is a great, fully customizable encoder for 1/2 the price of the Pro MainConcept plug-in.

I'm using option 3 and happy. If I decide the extra AVI step is taking too much time, I'll go for a 4 option: Upgrade to Vegas Video 3.0 for $199. This upgrade includes the MainConcept Professional plug-in.

Once you create your MPEG2 file, you'll need a DVD Authoring package. I use DVD Workshop SE. You can find it bundled with hardware at really reasonable prices.

Good luck.
