I?fm trying to output my Vegas project to my TV?cthe goal is to see what?fs going on on a TV before I render. Seems normal enough. However, the manual states that I?fve got to go from my video card, to my cam corder and then into my vcr?c..but I have a s-video out from my video card in my computer, so shouldn?ft I just be able to send a feed directly from Vegas to my televisions s-video input? That would be sweet?c.but it doesn?ft seem to work. I?fve gone into preference and played with the possible configurations, but to no avail?c.am I missing something here?

Actually you need to connect to your firewire card, which may or (probably) may not be your video card. The signal is sent out from the computer as a DV stream through firewire which your camera will then convert to composite or S-Video for the television.

But why can't my computer just use the s-video port...I mean, what's the reason it can't use this port...why all the fuss and complication of going through my camera?

Not sure if this is what your're looking for but.... I have an ATI Radeon card with s-video out. I preview the Vegas preview window on my TV by going into the ATI control panel and extending my desktop across my computer monitor and television. I then undock the preview window in Vegas and drag it over to my television. I can then expand the preview until it's about 80% of full screen and get good playback. More layers/effects require a smaller window to get good playback framerates but it's still better for judging video quality than my LCD.

I understand what you mean.....so I can go to buy a box that will allow me to view my monitor on my tv, and that will more or less have the same effect as doing the firewire/camcorder/tv thing? But that will still be just a preview of the actual quality ...right? Using the other method (firewire/camcorder/tv), and I still just supposed to get a preview quality of picture, or does that actually show me the real thing?
