Outtakes - Play All/ Single

Rogueone wrote on 11/29/2003, 6:59 AM
I was knocking this idea around for my next release and wondered if DVDA could do it:
I have an outtakes section, and I didn't know if I could render all the outtakes into one MPEG-2 file, and insert markers in DVDA so that you could have the option to 'Play All', and also select individual clips for viewing. Does anyone know if this is possible? Can DVDA create markers for start and stop of video?

Thanks,

You definitely can do this with DVD-A.

You can do this but bear in mind after you have selected to play one clip the others will play as well, it does not come back to the menu after playing a clip unless it is the last one.

Zcheema....that is not true.

If you set up the clips with start/end points and have a 'play all' - it will go back to the menu after playing the 'first' clip.

I do it all the time.

Okay, nice to know it can be done. Next question: How do I set the end points for the clips? Say I have 4 clips total; I assume I render the four into one file, and import into DVDA. Then I mark them with chapter points, so that the single ones can jump right to them. So how do I make a mark for 'end'? Is that another point of some kind? Or do I have to render 4 separate files, and somehow link them?

Import the media file and set your chapter marks. You can then right click and copy the asset. You can then left click and paste as many times as needed for each chapter. Double click on one of them, and you can drag the left and right hand edges of the media file to 'trim' it down to the respective chapter. You would do this for each chapter, and name the button appropriately. DVD-A won't duplicate your assets, it will reference off the single file.
