Hello,
I have had this problem for close on to a year, I have posted it on the forum before and had some response from SOFO and the forum users but it fizzled out.
When V4 beta was published I checked to see if the problem had been fixed but it was still there so I reported it to SOFO. I received a reply from SOFO and after a couple of emails he confirmed it was a bug but it would not be fixed in the V4 release as it was too late, it would have to go in the next update.
I have installed 4.0b and the issue is still there. I have reported this to SOFO support but had no reply.
The problem.
I start a project as PAL DV Widescreen
I add two clips to the timeline filmed in 16:9 and overlap for a crossfade.
If I play the transition and use the preview window it displays correctly.
If I preview to an external monitor which has a 16:9 display when the frames for the transition are displayed additional horizontal bars are added creating a really annoying jump in aspect ratio. The recompressed frames are the ones of interest.
If I use the scoped or any Video FX that makes frames recompress the additional horizontal bars are added. Adding FX and then having the aspect screwed on the preview often defeats the obkect of having a preview.
If I render the project the transition displays correctly from the MPEG file all the way through to the final DVD.
In prefs -> Video Device the invalid DV format setting is PAL DV Widescreen
In the media pool the event properties are shown as PAL DV Widescreen.
Am I missing the point here, apart from being disappointed at the poor response from SOFO does anyone else see this behaviour or have a rational as to what is going on?
SOFO - can anyone tell me if this is a recognised/repeatable issue or have you decided to ignore this. It appears that way.
Regards, PAW
