This question might equally apply to NTSC and double NTSC but I am in a PAL region.
I'm using Vegas Pro 10c.
I have files from the Canon 5DII and the Panasonic TM700 and TM900. All European versions.
The files from the 5DII are AVCHD 1080p 25fps. The files from both the Panasonics are AVCHD 1080p 50fps.
When I start a new project and use the icon click through the 5DII files are identified correctly as 1080p 25fps PAL. When I start new project with the Panasonic files they are identified as 1080p 50fps DOUBLE PAL.
I now want to combine files from all the cameras into one project (there are 4 cams in all including 2 x 5DII's). Sometimes the clips are events in the same track, otherwise they are on separate tracks prior to multi-camera editing of the same subject.
Whether I start the project as a 25fps or a 50fps I'm not seeing any difference in the playback. It doesn't seem to matter which I select. Nor does Switches > Disable Resample appear to make a difference.
Can anyone explain what I should be looking for, if anything, and whether there is an advantage in choosing one over the other? I should add that the indoor shutter speed is normally 1/50th for all the cameras to avoid lights strobing (would be 1/60th in USA obviously), and its files shot indoors that I am reviewing.
Output would normally be PAL DVD standard definition plus a high def web version.
I have a feeling I'm going to feel pretty stupid once I know the answer. Thanks!
Pete
