PAL Clips with audio pitch problems

Hi,

I happen to have a couple of PAL clips (AVI/Xvid, 592x445x12, 25fps) that the audio appears to be fast.

Experimenting with Vegas, I did find a way to correct the pitch by using "Pitch Shift" as an audio effect. It seems that it's real close to a -1 semitone + preserve duration (that keeps sync). I suppose I could also use the timeline stretch method as well.

I don't mind rendering----probably to an AVC (MP4/h.264/aac) file

I've also read about a CLI program called SOX and others, but I'd have to process the audio separately and then remux.

Now I'm wondering if there is an easier way, but my knowledge is limited. Perhaps Handbrake ?

Any ideas on this would be appreciated.

Thanks

One semitone is a ratio of 1.059 approx.
25/24 = 1.042 approx.

Therefore it looks like your video started out life as 24 fps.

You can slow it down again to 24 fps or use the elastique option in Vegas to change pitch.

Thanks Peter for the info.

So, what is the procedure to change it to 24 fps ?
Are you talking about rendering to 24 fps done by using the custom settings and frame rate pull down selections ?

The subject was covered well in this thread.
