PAL related question

I need to burn a DVD for PAL country. I create an MPEG2 file using PAL template out of Vegas then import it into Architect with PAL template... SO why is it that i can still preview it on my video monitor??? When i pop the burned DVD into my regular DVD player it plays fine including sound and color...? What's going on?

I tried to switch my video monitor to PAL and the same DVD plays BW... I quess it could be because the DVD player, or the camera i'm using as my deck convert the sygnal to NTSC. Still how can i be sure it will play fine on PAL TV/DVD sets?

If you play on a PC, it doesn't matter if PAL or NTSC.

Some NTSC players will play a PAL disc - generally they convert on the fly to NTSC (or NTSC-like) that a NTSC TV will play.
To really test it you want a PAL DVD player and PAL monitor... though most PAL DVD players will handle a NTSC disc (they convert it to a pseudo-PAL format).

If you've created it with PAL settings, and you can play it, it should be fine in the PAL country. You can even send them the NTSC and they probably will be able to play it.

I have 2 "set top" DVD players. One will play a NTSC disc and convert to this pseduo-PAL on the fly. The other plays NTSC if given a NTSC disc. With that one, connecting it to my PAL TV it plays black and white....
