paste as takes twist

I know one can select a number of files, then right-click drag them onto the time line and select past as takes. Very useful.

But is there a way to select a group of events and do the same thing? This would be useful in the project I'm currently working on. In this case there are several takes (of say a guitar part) that exist as events, but all point to a large master file that was created from an analog transfer of a whole reel. I know I can batch render all the events to separate files and then create the single event with multiple takes with the standard method I described, but it is a little bit of a hassle and certainly takes up more storage to have to render them first.

yes i've often wanted to stack events within an arrangement like this.
my understanding is it can't be done.

you can only import separate files to stack, but vegas already stacks events that are sections of one recording, as loop record just defines where an event will start and end on one continuous recording, so it’s really about where a take starts which could be recognised by the existing event start and end points

so would it be that hard to implement a ‘merge events to takes to new track’ kind of command

is this a scripting possibility? Or can you only script existing command options?
