Paste event atrributes - can't get it working

LarsHD wrote on 5/24/2009, 2:29 PM
I have 4 text events. The first one has 255 white which is what I want.

I highlight this forst text event
I "copy"
I then highlight the other 3 text events
I then chose "Paste event attributes"

Nothing happens. Those 3 events are not affected my my "Paste event attributes"

If you want to copy the colour (or the font or...) of the text you can not do that this way.

Take a look at "Copying and pasting event attributes" on page 186 in the Sony Vegas Pro 9 manual.

As ritsmer says, you can't do this with text so my workaround is to create the first text event with the properties I want and then do a copy/paste to create the next one.
This way, all I have to change is the text itself and not all of the various properties.
BTW, white text should be no more than 235 as 255 is over the legal limit.
Great Titles with the DV Codec is an excellent article that gets into issues such as this.

Hi again...

I have been reading the manual. regarding text it seems taht perhaps ritsmer is right ghere, that copying colors of text and pasting that into other text events simply doesn't work.

Is this correct Joran?

As Mike says, make a text template and use (copy) this template to get text events with the same colours, font size and so on.

Well, this depends on what you want to use it for... and what video levelse you ahve in the project etc etc etc... A separate and long discussion... ;)

Sure, a text template is good but of yuo happen to have sometning there already which is unique it would be good to just be able to paste the colors and basics, like you do in Lightroom with "paste development settings" etc.

OK, now I know, thanks for the advice
