Peach Rock Productions Veggie Tool kit

This has been my 'go-to' when I have had a large project to complete.

I have just finished an editing task for our church that involved 6 one hour teaching sessions. Imagine my dismay when I discovered that this plugin doesn't function in Vegas Pro 13 and that, if installed, it breaks 12 as well.

From their website:

Sony Vegas Pro 13 has changed to require .Net 4.0 for extensions and is therefore not backwards compatitible with my .Net 3.5 extensions. Due to business reasons we have no plans to upgrade Veggie Toolkit to .Net 4.0 at this point. It also appears that installing Sony Vegas Pro 13 will break the Veggie Toolkit under Vegas 12. Therefore, Vegas Pro 12 will be the last version of Vegas Pro that is supported by the Veggie Toolkit. We wish to thank you for your support over the life of this product.

So long to a great plugin that has served me faithfully over the years BUT...

What can I replace it with?

Are you talking About an EXTENSION or a PLUG-IN?

Third party EXTENSIONS had a problem with the initial releases of SVP v13. My Timeline Tools Extension, as well as many others, didn't work with the first releases of v13. But Sony fixed that problem. And now they are back to working as normal. If you're talking about a PlugIn, then you may be looking at a 32 bit vs 64 bit issue. 32 bit PlugIns will not work in the 64 bit only releases of Vegas.

Indeed we say goodbye to Veggie Toolkit for the release of VegasPro13. Sadly. Upto then it was a goto plugin for Vegas serious production.
1) If you don't own Vegasaur 9.+ then do buy that.
2) Invest in Excalibur or Vegas Production Assistant for similar tooling.

Another long term user of the Veggie Toolkit that's very sad to see this fade away.

Bob.

Is there any link/page that details the differences between Vegesaur, Excalibur and/or Ultimate S. Thanks.

The recommendation Kit is that you buy all three and SCS Vegas Pro Assistant. Most all pros use these products and would recommend such.

If your problem is funding, then you must take on the role of the conscientious consumer and make your own choices accordingly. ALWAYS.

All well and good but information is required to be conscientious. I have Ultimate S and Pro Assistant. I'd like to know what the other two offer in addition.

Its on the websites respectively.

Yes, I've been to the websites but didn't see any kinds of comparisons. Don't find the websites very illuminating. If I were making a living using Vegas then I would just buy them but since I only have 2-3 projects a year to do I guess I'll just wait and if I suddenly find a need for some work-flow I can go looking. This just means I will miss out on useful features I can't imagine.

Well, for the last time on this chain, I will say again unequivocally that all of the products mentioned above have value, do not duplicate each other, and do not conflict with each other.

There is not a pro installation setup of VegasPro our there that would not have added value being backed by all of these products.
When you choose to ignore one product you are missing the opportunity that the product was designed to offer.

Thanks. There is no duplication at all?

When you choose to ignore one product you are missing the opportunity that the product was designed to offer.

That's exactly the kind of information I think is lacking - if the products are so different then what is each one's main purpose? It just doesn't come across.

This won't interest the vast majority on this forum, but I just discovered that the Offline Media Resolver in the Peachrock Veggie Toolkit actually works in Vegas Pro 13.0 build 453. You have to click through 4 error messages when you start it, and you have to click through 1 error message per each resolved media item when you save, but that's not such a big deal and when you've finished, the media seems to have been restored correctly. I'm not sure if it's always been this way or if some update in Windows etc. (e.g. a .NET Framework update) has enabled this, but useful for me as it's one of the reasons I've kept VP12 on my machine until now. It doesn't work in VP14 of course.

Since the Peachrock Veggie Toolkit Creators have discontinued the product.

Perhaps they could donate their code to Magix.

Then Magix could modify and implement in Vegas Pro 14.1

Sounds like a Win/Win all around (Peachrock code lives on, and is respected, and Magix adds new welcome features, and Vegas Pro 14.x users get new/updated features).

Perhaps a respected editor like Nick could pass this suggestion on to both.

Donate their code to Magix? hahahaha

Put it out to the community as open source would be better. If it were my code, why would I want magix to profit from it as free code or for any type of possible sales increase or give them an excuse to jack up the price? I would adopt a scorched earth policy if donating to magix was the only choice.
