I am trying to work on a Vegas 8 project from a mirror copy of the master, but I am finding that every time I load up the project I have to wait about 30 minutes for Vegas to rebuild all of the media peak files.
The entire internal SATA drive has been mirrored to a USB 2.0 drive of equal capacity. I then conencted that to a second computer which I wished to use for colour correction purposes as it has superior video connectivity.
However, every single time I load the project, Vegas rebuilds all of the peak files, including those attached to the .m2t files. As the USB 2.0 connect is a bandwidth bottleneck, I have to wait for Vegas to scan the length of these files, so switching to 8 bit peak files does not return any benefits. Of course, even if it the drive was connected by SATA, a peak file rebuild on every load would take 10 minutes or so, so the USB drive is certainly not the cause of the problem.
The files it is rebuilding have not actually needed to be altered at all since they were originally built. I can understand why it might want to rebuild the files if there were file path problems, but there are not. Even after savign the project out on the second computer it still rebuilds all these files again.
Is there any way to disable unnecessary peak file rebuilds?
Cheers for any guidance,
Rob,
