Here's another one of those instances where you'd like to hear someone from SCS chiming in. Instead, crickets.

The natives are restless and PPro is looking better with each rev.

Depends on the project. I think PPro would have started crashing at about 10% of what Darren has done with Vegas.

There might be an advantage to that if PPro wouldn't let you build anything too big.

I was talking about FCP :)
It seems they've now 'cracked' OSX and it and all Apple apps will run on vanilla hardware.

And you're saying that FCP runs better on vanilla hardware?

Apparently yes.
And you're no longer limited to Apple 'approved' hardware.
I have no compelling reason to try it myself of course but I've been following this development as a background interest for some time. In the past each new release of OSX required extensive reworking to get it to run. Lately they seem to have completely cracked the issues so that any upgrade and application will work. I guess Apple could change their BIOS to bring this unstuck like they've been doing with the iPhone but that seems to get cracked in a few hours so I guess the same would go for a BIOS change.

Overall, I'd not recommend it for our shop since they're much more focused on editing than tinkering, and having a system that no one will support is a non-starter.

Like all systems, this FCP system is also going up in flames. It's happening as I write, actually.

As long as your graphics card is supported I'm pretty sure it will run on any Core 2 machine out there and above and i think some below as well.
