Phantom Dropped Frames

Hello, all
If this subject has already been covered, please forgive me-my 28.8K modem which has the audacity to call itself a 56K runs so slow that I shy away from doing a lot of searches.
Anyway...
Like a lot of you, I archive my finished projects on DV tape. I recently had to re-import a 9 minute finished project so I could adjust a volume level and re-render (BTW-Audio Envelopes in VF are VERY Helpful to reduce large dynamic ranges in songs)I imported it using VF-When I was finished Vidcap told me I had 36,000+ Dropped frames...
My math says that in a 9 minute video at appx 29 FPS, there are only 15,660 frames..
Am I doing fuzzy math or is Vidcap lying to me, and, why am I egtting this erroneous error message when the outcome seems to be fine?
The imported video looked fine and my re-rendered output, and subsequently, final project looked fine.
No problems this time, I'm hoping to head future problems off at the pass.

Others have also reported the occasional wildly varying totals of dropped frames with no apparent real problems.

Thanks soundguy63, I guess I'll just ignore it unless I see a problem.

This commonly happens when capturing from analog devices. When using analog devices, you can disable the following preferences to improve performance:

On the "General" tab
-Enable DV Device Control

On the "Capture" tab
-Enable DV Scene Detection
-Enable Still Image Capture
-Minimum Clip Length

Yes, but it happened to me today capturing from a dv camera, no apparent frame loss, though

My situation is the same as Rwatts, I was capturing from my DV camera.
In essence What I was doing was capturing into VF what I had output to my DV camera via VF PTT.
But as with Rwatts, no apparent frame loss.
Strangely enough, the reason I was re-importing from my DV camera was that when I played the clip back from my camera into a VHS VCR, there was a gap in the audio, so I was going to bring the clip into VF and fix the audio, but when I got the clip into the computer, there was no gap.
Even with 36,000+ dropped frames.
