Phonetic Alphabet - HELP

Greetings everyone!

I am trying to find the means of getting the characters used in the International Phonetic Alphabet (used for pronunciation in a dictionary) available to me for use in a title page. Is there a font family I need and how do I gain access to the symbols? I hope I’m making sense.

Well, you can figure out what the ASCII value of each is and hold down the ALT key while entering a 3-digit number (ALT-152 = ÿ (a "y" with two dots over it, if it doesn't show right on this forum)).

However, an easier way that I just validated is to use MS Word's Insert Symbol function to make a list of symbols you need, then Copy / Paste them into Vegas. I just created / pasted the four symbols below into the ProTitler text with no issues:

edit -- hmmm, I see this didn't show correctly. It was supposed to be various vowels with accents and dots over them.

you can also use "character map" (usually via accessories on the start menu) - this is essentially the same as going via word - just in case you're ever at a machine that doesn't have word on it. Also, when you choose a symbol to insert, it will tell you the necessary ALT+MODIFIER code to recreate it - in case you have favourites to use time and again

All of the IPA characters are contained in Unicode, a quick Google shows many character maps and a few generators to do the job, but as mentioned all can be accessed in Word.
