Wayne’s free script brings back the externally adjusted as a Take to the VP Still Event. Marvellous!

Interesting thread, after working and trying out various photo editors (Lightroom, Corel PSP, Aftershot pro), with all their pro's and cons I stick now exclusively with Zoner Photo Studio X (which is a bit "Lightroomish" ), but to my humble opinion faster and more user friendly. And they update all year round with frequent patches and new features during the past 3 or so years I been using it. It suits me best. As it is a former east European country company it may be struggling to get a market share in the USA, but check it out anyways.

Since OP has Vegasaur, I will describe how one can use it to work with external graphics programs.

Vegasaur has External Editors tool, which you can use to open the selected media file in an external editor. For example, it can be a graphics editor or an audio editor for sounds. User can configure it for his own needs.

For example, select a PSD file and open it in Adobe Photoshop directly from the timeline, with a single click! Just register (add to the list) your favorite graphics editor, specify file extensions and you're done!

You can specify a number of different applications for the same file extensions. In this case you will be prompted to choose which editor should open the file:

So, if you want to configure external editors - make sure that no events are selected on the timeline and run the command. If you want to open a file in external editor - select this media file on the timeline and run the command.

Important: This tool works in conjunction with Auto Offline tool.

Unlike the standard option Close media files when not the active application (in Preferences), Auto Offline tool automatically closes only certain types of files, for example, only images (large video files are not closed). Less annoying delays when switching between Vegas and other applications.

I have tried Vegasaur's External Editors but I did not like it because it is a destructive method to edit image files. Meaning, when I select an image from the timeline and click External Editors, the actual image file (not a copy) is opened in my image editor. So if I change my mind, I can not undo the changes made to the image. However, the method used by the script of wwaag is considered non-destructive because it only opens a "copy" of the image to be edited, and it save it in the timeline as a take (copy) so if I change my mind I can basically click undo and everything back to normal before the changes.

Can Vegasaur's External Editors do that?

Exactly .. that is why it is better than Vegasaur's External Editors tool.

Unless I am wrong and missing something about Vegasaur's External Editors, Vegasaur is welcome to correct my information.

Currently, no. It's a good option to add ;)

I downloaded the V13 script to V12 and it worked perfectly in V12 Windows 7 Pro. However when I download the V14 script (V14 Windows 7 Pro) I can't get it to work with the message that says "No worky" however the icons show up nice.

OK, I fixed it in V14. The problem was the "permissions" would not allow the "Unblock" function to function. I hate permissions and wish there was a "Battle Short" for eliminating them. Thanks Waag a bunch.
