Photos in movie file

I'm a newbie, so this is probably very simple but it just seems to escape me. I am trying to use an imported photo image in a movie. When I import it, it appears, but is much smaller than I want. I tried to increase the size using the event pan/crop but that doesn't do it. How can I increase the size of the image in the video? Thanks.

You do it with pan/crop - that's exactly what pan/crop is for.

When you see the image in the pan/crop window just click/drag the rectangle surrounding the big F. The F is for Frame - it shows (actually it's the rectangle that shows the frame) what Vegas will render as its final output.

You can move/rotate/resize the frame any way you want. Even turn it upside down. (Believe it or not I used this once to good effect.) The main preview window will show you what the final rendered output will look like as you manipulate the frame.

That did it. I tried that before and I was getting bewildered when I would try to expand the picture and I would hit some invisible barrier in the preview that would cut off the image. I realize now that I need to widen the frame box first before I move it. Thank you.

Now maybe you can help me with another issue. When I type in text, it looks blurry and pixelated. Would you know why?

I've only made a little use of the text generation function and that was for fairly large text that I used as a main title. You can't judge the quality of the text from the preview screen. It looks much better in the final rendered output.
