I have Photoshop and keep hearing on the forum how it interfaces with Vegas. Can anyone in a simple way tell me the ways to utilize this? I know it gets complicated with layers etc.
Satish is working on interfacing Photoshop plug-ins also. Since Photoshop is a mature product and also the number one application for working on photographs there are a wealth of third party plug-ins.
Once the interface is done, then all the plug-ins that work with Photoshop (or most) should work in Vegas. That will be amazing. Just one plug-in Kai's Power Tools would add fractals which by itself would add oh about 100,000 varations. That's just for starters. Duh!
For now you can drag and drop any photoshop file (PSD) on the timeline and you're good to go. In other words you do your thing in photoshop, then just drop the project file on Vegas' timeline. Bingo!
You can minimize VV and open photoshop and in photoshop open up the media window from VV and bring any still on your timeline into photoshop to work on it. When you are finished, save it and go back to VV. Cut the still from the timeline and add the still (now modified by ps) to the timeline. On the other hand, if it is just a matter of brightness and contrast or color correction, you don't even have to go to photoshop. Just use the FX in the timeline.
in prefs you can set vegas to close files when it is not the app in use.
if you do this you can have both apps open and have a file on the timeline and the same file open in photoshop.
This allows you to switch between the apps and make changes. When you change something in photoshop and then move bakc to vegas - hey presto the timeline is updated - or at least it works for me.
If you have a high res photo and just need to do image correction vegas is pretty good on its own.
IN PHotoshop, hit the Open button and then open up the drive where you have Vegas and search for the folder where your stills are. Better yet, save your stills to a distinct file that you can easily find. When you open this up in Photoshop, you can work on the still, shut it down, go to VV and when you go back to PS it will open to the same folder again.
