Picture resizing/cropping during render

I've made VV3 video of both scanned pictures and video clips captured from old 8MM video. The .JPG pictures (all scanned around 1200x900dpi give or take) were inported into PowerPoint where balloon text inserts were made on the photos. The Photos were placed into the story line and look fine until rendered. There the picture tops and bottoms are cropped so much that I've lost some of the wording in the text balloons. I've checked the size of the .JPGs and they are still very large with the quality of the photos intact. No "stretching" or distortion of the pictures at all, just top/bottom cropping. What am I doing wrong?

Most television monitors will not display all the available video data from the 720x480 NTSC DV signal. If you click on the "display option" button at the top of the Preview Window within VV3 and select the "Safe Areas" option, the preview window will outline the areas where it is "safe" to add text without danger of it being cut off.
