PICvideo MJPEG - Colour Issue

Hi all,

I've just installed my new machine - woo hoo !!

I need to supply a bunch of documentary AVI files that I did last year and I've decided to supply them using my fav. codec which is the PICVideo MJPEG.

I've just notice that for some reason when I load a previously created AVI with the PICVideo MJPEG codec into Vegas Pro 8 the colour has been compressed. Meaning that the white is not as white and the blacks are higher than originally created.

The thing is that this only appears to be happening with Vegas. I use VirtualDub for conversions and there is no change here or within video player BS Player.

Any leads would be appreciated.

Cheers,

Steve Roberts.

Is it something where applying the Studio to Computer RGB color correction (or Computer to Studio RGB color correction) fixes it?

I had the same thing happen when trying to use Newtek's SpeedHQ codec in Vegas. That was the only way to fix it, the decode into RGB space came out wrong otherwise.

Also, be sure your scope settings didn't get changed, otherwise they could be giving you the wrong levels even if they are really correct.

There you go. You were spot on.

I thought about it before posting as I had come across this issue due to other reasons but I also thought that I was using the same colour space the whole way along. Seems to fix the problem.

The bigger question is "were is the problem starting ??"

Thanks for that.
