Pink sections

I have just started editing a new project after an almost 2 year break. (Ver 6 platinum)
Some areas on the time line have a pink background. I cant work out why !. I also have areas that I cannot move to overlap the next clip. As I drag clip A to the right, towards clip B. clip B moves away ?. I have tried to play with Auto ripple and Auto crossfade and to Ungroup them but they seem to be "locked together". Any insight would be appreciated

The pink background means that the audio is no longer synchronized to the corresponding video. You may have meant to do this, or you may have done it inadvertantly. If you want to re-sync the audio/video, just right-click the pink clip, and you'll see several options for doing so.
Not sure what's going on with your other problem, but I'm sure someone else will chime in here shortly....

' I also have areas that I cannot move to overlap the next clip.'
Right click the clip that won't move-go down to 'switches'-make sure that 'lock' is not checked.
'As I drag clip A to the right, towards clip B. clip B moves away '
1. Make sure that 'Auto Ripple' is turned off.
2. Select affected clips and hit U (for ungroup).
3. Click somewhere outside of the group, or they will still act grouped.
Let us know if this helps. Cin
