you will probably have to use the software pinnacle provides - then use explorer to import it into VMS later. The VMS software prefers to import thru the firewire - for best results in VMS

VMS wont recognize my pinnacle card. I can sometimes capture to pinnacle Studio as avi file , when pinnacle studio doesn't freeze, and then edit in VMS. Pinnacle stinks. I am shopping for another card.

I can cap with Sony Vidcap with the AV/DV card if I accept the pinnacle capture properties of 352x480 and change the color space/compression to RGB 24. If I try any other settings, it appears to capture fine but will then crash when I stop it.

Currently, I use studio only to capture and for SmartSound. pinnacle doesn't like something in Vegas though so I have to reboot and then capture. If I have had Vegas started and then try to capture with pinnacle, it will start dropping LOTS of frames. debacle, er, pinnacle is so great! :-p

I have a sony digital 8 camera on the way and will use it to capture with as it will convert analog to DV.

I can't wait to finally be rid of all the pinnacrap!

I used to use the Pinnacle DC10 Plus capture card and it worked fine with Movie Studio 3. If it is an analog capture card, you can also try using VirtualDub for capture. VirtualDub is a free download from http://virtualdub.sourceforge.net/

Hope this helps...
