I have used Pinnacle Edition DV500. I am currently using it while my VV4 academic version is shipped from Academic Superstore. It has many features; however, it has a deep learning curve. The user manual and documentation is poorly written and there is hardly any additional materials or tutorials. Good luck.

My dealer gave me a demo CD of the 4.5 Edition. It is trying very hard to simulate an Avid look and feel... Very stuburn in terms of learning - everything is buttons and nothing is labled - but it does seem to have some nice options.
Just not itutive. Lets face it; Nothing out there right now can touch VEGAS 4

I agree. I'm waiting my Vegas as well ;) The plan is to use the following for my DVD authoring arm of my studio:

Vegas DVD+ (just in case DVD-A doesn't meet expectations, I'm still comparing DVD tools- Impression DVD Pro or DVD Workshop)
Canopus ADV100

I currently use Carrara Studio 2 for animation (excellent BTW).

What is a good MPEG encoder?

Thanks for the info.
