PIP FX

Hi,

I just purchased VF 2.0 2 days ago. I'm playing around with different FX.

I have two DV Avi's on the timeline, on in "Video" and one in "Video Overlay". I applied the PIP cookie cutter filter, and everything works. However, I would like the video in the PIP window to be a scaled version of the video, not just a cut out of that section of video. Is this possible?

Thanks!

Craig

Take a look at Pan/Crop instead of Cookie Cutter. If you drag the dotted frame line out larger than the picture, then the picture will shrink (kind of an inside-out crop). By moving the frame around you can size and position the video clip wherever you want it in the frame.

Yup - also remember that if you move the "F"rame down your clip moves up. And if you move the "F"rame UP your clip moves down. Likewise for LEFT and RIGHT. Think in reverse. I find the best way to "view" what I am doing is to have the clip on continous looping while I am experimenting.

Have fun! It's a great little function of a remarkable s/w package.

Thanks. I actually found this just a few minutes after I posted. I realized I could do a reverse-crop of sorts, just as you mentioned.

With some proper planning, I can see that I could allow the instered PIP to expand and take over the screen as well. This is going to be fun--and to think I almost blew tons of $$ on Premiere. :)

Woah there! Premiere does have multi-video tracks, multi audio and and and.......

Maybe we could influence SoFO to stick another couple of tracks into VF... oh yeah there goes some more porcine aviation...

Yup, VF is fun and at the price it is remarkable. Craig - the more you play 'round with it, the more you will find.

Cheers

I realize some of the limitations of VF 2.0, but if I find that I am hindered by them, I'll upgrade to VV 3.0. That's still cheaper than Premiere, and I keep reading about disgruntled Premiere users out there. I'm trying to form my own opinions, and so far I'm very pleased with VF 2.0.
