Pissed off about Vegas Video 3.0 LE Nag Screen

Ok - I'm kinda pissed off with Sonic Foundry.

I Purchased the Digital Video & Audio Production book which comes with "So Called" fully functioning software.

Among those is Vegas Video 3.0 LE.

I installed and registered my software no problem. But now every time I close the application - I get a damn nag screen asking me to upgrade my software. No where in the Customer service inquiries, no in the EULA, nor in the manual or on the website for that matter, did it they state that I would be constantly nagged about upgrading my software every time I close it.

I paid money for this book based upon the information provided on Sonic Foundry's website and I have to say that I am pissed off that I was deceived by this. When you advertise fully functioning software, that is what it should be - not a nagware version.

I am to the point that I am about to send the book back and request a refund and never touch Sonic Foundry software again.

But before I do, does anyone know if I can disable this stupid nag screen?

I am sorry that the exit screen is detracting from your experience using Vegas Video 3.0 LE. Unfortunately, I am not aware of a way to turn off the exit screen. Having such informational screens helps keep the cost of the book and software low, which allows more people to get their feet wet with digital media editing. I sincerely hope that your experience with the rest of the book convinces you to take a look at Vegas 4 and other Sonic Foundry products.

Geez Cliff, take a chill pill. You'll lucky the nag sceen doesn't pop up every few minutes like many do. While its common to get so-called "free" software with books, rarely will you get a fully functional version. For the price of the book? Get serious. Besides, you said it only nags once you're FINISHED using the application.

Oh... almost forgot, you want to disable the nag screen? BUY the software. If you have a problem write the PUBLISHER of the book.

This is no different than the Quicktime viewer nagging you to upgrade to Pro all the time. Lot’s of vendors do this when you get software for free. Try not to let it ruin your experience and keep reminding yourself that people pay $69 for Vegas LE or VideoFactory (pretty close in functionality) and people pay $69 for Sound Forge Studio (which also came free with the book) and you payed a lot less than that so you still got a pretty good deal ‘cuz you also got the book!

Trust us, even if it didn’t have the nag screen, you’re gonna get so hooked on Vegas you’re gonna want Vegas 4+DVD soon. It’s an addiction. We all have it. There I said it. I feel better now. I’m a Vegas 4 addict and I’m not afraid to admit it. (you gotta look on the bright side ...it’s a good book!) ;-)

Not sure if it works, but worth a try:
Press Ctrl-Alt-Delete and End Task instead of quitting the application the normal way.

simply put, there are personality types that can read and listen at the same time and enjoy that. There are other types that are easily distracted by the same.

It is a matter of genetics and science not quality of character or practice.

Nag screen says it all. It is doing what it was designed to do.

And there are apps which automate the closing of pop-up windows.... oh, wait a moment, you have to buy those too ;=)

Ctrl+Alt+Del "End Task" will not save any preference changes you made, and may not clean up other stuff usually taken care of during normal shut down. Use at your own risk.
