pitch change methods

I'm hoping someone more experienced with Vegas 5 can help me.

Is there a way to change the pitch of an audio event, by so many semitones and/or cents, with corresponding change in length, directly by entering the number of cents and/or semitones? In other words, I don't mean change pitch hold length the same, or change length hold pitch the same, but rather change them both simultaneously and proportionately.

If I right click the event and go to the time/pitch options and check the lock box, it does not allow me to enter the amount of pitch change directly, but rather forces me to get it indirectly be entering the new length of the event. The other option, CTL clicking the edge of the event and stretching or compressing it has the same indirect effect.

Older versions of Vegas allowed a direct entering of the pitch change amount, but not 5.0, seemingly. Am I missing something?

You're right, that seems to be missing in 5.

It's not perfect yet, but i've created a little calculator that will let you enter duration in hh:mm:ss.ff, a frame rate, and the pitch shift you want in semitones. It will display the new time you'll have to type in to get that shift. The pitch can be positive (to speed it up) or negative (to slow it down). Fractional values are allowed.

Hope this helps.

Right click an event
Go to Properties
Under 'method' choose Classic
Pitch Change is there
Make sure that 'lock to stretch' is NOT checked

Select the event. "-" or "=" will raise or lower the pitch in semitones. Hold down CTRL and the change will be in cents. Select in Properties to preserve time, or not.
