Pixel Aspect Ratio

Vegas does not have a template for PAL 704x576 so I have made a custom template with the 1.0926 PAL DV PAR. No problem.

However, I have also made a custom PAL Half D1 352x576 template. In that case the PAR should be 1.0926 * 2 = 2.1852.
Unfortunatly, when I enter that number Vegas 4 changes it to 2.0000. Why is a higher number not allowed?

Since nobody intends to tell me why I can't use a higher pixel aspect ratio than 2, I would like to make this a feature request for the next Vegas update. Please allow a PAR of up to 3 to offer better support for PAL Half D1 352x576. It is after all a DVD compliant resolution and it probably is an extremely easy adjustment.

One more question:
Is it possible to switch off maintain aspect ratio globally, for an entire project? Now I have to switch it off for every clip I put on the timeline.

352x576 ? This is horizontal/2 x vertical/1. I think you want 352 x 288 (both numbers have to be divided by 2). This corresponds to the h/w of PAL video CD, which is what you are creating, correct? If so, you can leave PAR as 1.092- Vegas will do the right thing.

But backing up a bit, what exactly are you trying to do?

Also, there's no way to default maintain aspect to off, sorry.

I often make CVDs, not VCDs. PAL CVDs have a 352x576 resolution, aka Half D1.
352x576 is also DVD compliant, as you can read in the DVD FAQ.

Allowable picture resolutions are:

But of course the PAR for 352x576 is 2.1852 which is currently not supported.
Vegas 4 only allows a PAR between 0.5 and 2.0. I really hope this will be fixed in the next update.
