pixel glitches on sony vegas

lamayapat wrote on 8/24/2023, 2:08 AM

Hello, I have a problem:

There's a video file (1080p) with bright colors that have no pixel glitch, but as soon as I put it on sony vegas, in the preview we can see many pixel glitching (like the frames couldn't follow properly the proper pixel positions and color shift).

I first thought it was just a preview problem, but the problem remains even after in the render. I tried different settings, low definition/high definition, and different formats. I feel like there's a box that has to be checked or unchecked but I have no idea where to look at.

Any ideas?

@lamayapat - Ouch! Which version of Vegas Pro are you using?

RogerS wrote on 8/24/2023, 4:48 AM

Decoding issue perhaps? What's the media? https://www.vegascreativesoftware.info/us/forum/faq-how-to-post-mediainfo-and-vegas-pro-file-properties--104561/

What's the GPU model?

You can try re-encoding it and replacing the file as a workaround. I use https://www.shutterencoder.com/

@RogerS - I don't think we'll see @lamayapat again. I could be wrong?

Yes @Grazie you're wrong 😁

And you are you too 😉. You don’t have a SONY product. You have a MAGIX product, called VegasPro 19.

Now that you’re back let’s see what we can do. 😎

Version: Sony Vegas 19

If you bought/obtained Sony Vegas Pro 19 from a website advertising it as being 'Sony", you've got a pirated / cracked version of Vegas Pro 19. If you bought it from the official VEGAS website, there is absolutely no mention of 'Sony' in the product's name - and hasn't been from Vegas Pro 14 onwards - and that's 7 years ago.

@Dexcon Now, let’s if @lamayapat  returns. I do hope so.

lamayapat wrote on 8/24/2023, 7:05 AM

It's indeed MAGIX my bad not Sony, and it's a paid version. I've been using it for so long that "sony vegas" is what sticked to my brain.

@lamayapat - OK, now we are on the same page, what is the BUILD number of VP19 you have? There may well have been fixes we are not aware of.

RogerS wrote on 8/24/2023, 7:15 AM

Would be better to copy and paste the MediaInfo so we can see all of it.

What I gather from this is that it is 8-bit 4:4:4 AVC, which is an unusual format. (anime rip?) If it were me I'd convert it all to ProRes 422 (or 444) and not worry about glitches.

You can try other workarounds like in preferences/ file io turning hardware decoder to none (from presumably NVDEC) You could also check "enable legacy AVC decoding" in case it works better here (will put more strain on your CPU though as the GPU won't be doing decoding for any AVC files).

@Grazie build 651

@RogerS you mention that 4:4:4 AVC is an usual format, what would be an usual one?

For high quality, low compression formats something like ProRes or MagicYUV would work well in VEGAS.

It the source is > 8 bit consider keeping it as 10-bit.
If it needs the color precision of 4:4:4 preserve that.

This Handbrake conversion is odd- why go from 60fps to 30fps and 4:4:4 to 4:2:0? For quality the "production standard" preset should be a better starting point. Keep keyint= your framerate, not 10x your framerate.

Personally I'd go to 10-bit ProRes for VEGAS (there are others people use for animation but they rely on the 32-bit Quicktime plugin in VEGAS so I'd avoid them).

I'm going through a very similar problem. I play a video on my Vegas Pro 21, and in some frames it looks like a few pixels. I render to see if the pexels come out, but I continue with them. Can anyone help me resolve this problem?

@MARCOS-ANTONIO Please make a new post for your issue. It looks like a decoding problem so we'd also want to know your MediaInfo, your GPU and which build of 21 you are using.
