Pixelization when fading to black

I am experiencing some bad pixelization when fading to black at the end of each MPEG clip I burn with DVD Architect. This pixelization looks like "big chunks of errors where a portion of the image sort of "freezes" and corrupts on the screen". On my computer when I open the MPEG files, the video looks great. It's only when I burn the media to a DVD and only at the end of each clip.

Probably your player simply can't keep up with the increased bitrate (and increased read errors) during the fade to black.

You could try a couple of tests to see if this is actually the issue. Try encoding just the fade to black part at some different constant bit rates, say 8,000 and then at 4,000 - then compare the 2.

If this is the issue, a solution may be a little harder. A newer DVD player is one option. Another option might be to render the entire MPEG at a lower max bit rate, but leaving the average at 6,000 (again, do a test with the fade at 6,000 to see if the player can handle this).

You might even try a different brand of media.

A more expensive solution would be purchasing a pro-level encoder that allows you to tweak the bit rate of just that section in order to get the best results.
