Placing a still pic over 2 trimmed video segments

I am editing video footage with some still pics over (using the same track) the video. Person is talking then I crossfade into some still pics. Still hear their voice but want to see still pics. This works great when the video clip is one clip but if I have spliced 2 together, the pic going over the the area where they are snapped together I find that the 2nd half of the pic goes behind the video footage instead of over it. Any simple work around - I have lots of situations I need to do this with. Thx

Crossfades simply don't work when more than two events are involved. You have a few choices. You could render those two clips together into a single new clip and use that new one in place of them. Or, you could put the still photos on a separate track above the video clips and fade them in.

I have tried the option and it works butI get a bit of the background edges of the video clip. Any suggestions on avoiding that?

Open up Pan/Crop on the still image, right-mouse-button click inside the cropping frame, choose "Match Output Aspect". That will force the still image to fill the frame completely.
