"PLAY ALL"

I have a 12-event DVD in process and I have two buttons on the main menu: one goes to the 12 chapters and the other is a "play all" button. It looks fine on the work page, but when I take into preview, the "play all" button is clouded over--blank--only a purple rectangle. Has anyone run into this? Is there something I can do to get it to register in preview as a button with "play all" text on it? TIA

Burt,

Does the button actually work?

I think DVD-A automatically highlights the first (default) button and, depending on the theme you are using, it may look 'clouded over'. If you use the arrow key, does the next button get clouded over in a similar fashion?

IF the button actually works as intended, and IF the second button is similarly hightlighted, then this is normal behavior. You can try using a different theme to see if that looks better to you. Also, under Page Properties, have you tried changing the "Highlighting Style"? The rectangle option (default) will show the clouded over look you mentioned. Try Mask Overlay or one of the other choices.

The button works, but when I have it in preview, as soon as I click the button that is readable, the one which goes to the chapter menues, it transfers over to the other button! It switches places!!

I tried all sorts of combinations, but I figured out a workaround in that I took the clouded button, sized it down to almost zero and hid it above the frame line so it could be seen. I still cannot get a "play all" button to work next to my chapters button, so I just said to hell with it. I do have the feeling that if I want a "play all" button IN ADDITION to my chapters button, I would have to link it to a new track which included all the events. This would double the volume and make it impossible so burn.

Hey Sonic Foundry! How do you get a play all button in addition to a chapter button on the main menu??

I did this as a test yesterday, and its seemed to work OK in preview. I think what I did was to drag my video file into the DVDA main window, that gave me a button that would play the whole thing. Then I copied that button and pasted it next to the "play all" button. The rename that and set the in and out points for the video for it. Set the frame to display in the button. In preview the buttons seemed to function normally. Sorry this is vague, I'm at work and don't have the program in front of me.

That sounds good. I'll experiment with that. Did the second button go to another menu with chapter buttons?

No, it just linked to a portion in the middle of the whole video. But I don't see why you couldn't create a chapter submenu and then adust the in and out points for each button
