Play new audio when Play button pressed

I have a main menu that has a play button and has audio going on. Once the play button is pressed, I'd like to play a different, very small (3 second), audio clip, while the menu (or at least appearance of the same menu) is still displayed before the movie starts.

Do I need to create a second menu that looks just like the main menu and tranisition to this, and then transition to the movie? If this is the case, is there any easy way to copy a menu to a new menu, keeping all the properties?

I'm just learning DVDA, so any help is appreciated!

Everything on a DVD is mpg2 video, optionally with audio attached, so you'll need video matching your audio clip by including either another menu or a short video clip. On the downside, I don't know that a 3 sec clip would actually be heard playing on a TV... I'd definitely suggest trying this on a RW disc so you could modify it as needed.

TO copy a menu page unfortunately you'll either use a template or select & copy all the buttons etc.

If you have a static menu, what I'd suggest doing is go into preview mode, select best for the display and capture a snapshot of your menu to a jpg file. Then using Vegas of VMS, load up the snapshot and your audio and render out as a short clip.

Have the short clip get activated when the menu button is pressed, then that clip will link to what is actually supposed to be played.

This way you don't have to create a complete copy of your menu.
