Play or load in MPEG

We need to be able to "load" or "drag" into our Vegas Sessions MPEG files. Although Vegas allows us to RENDER Mpeg 1 or Mpeg 2, I can't seem to get Vegas to recognize an mpeg. Any suggestions?

Where did these MPEGs come from? If they are elementary streams (m2v, mpa), that might explain why they don't load. If this is the case, download one of the conversion utilities from VCDhelp.com, and convert it to .avi, and you should be set.
