Well,

I guess we can just agree to disagree. I see posts all the time on this and other forums about competing apps. I agree that posts that denigrate an application while applauding a competitors app are annoying. However, I personally believe it is to some degree healthy to have constructive debate on the merits of what one app can do, or better yet, how to emulate the same function in your app via some trick or shortcut someone has found out. As an example, DVD-SP allows access to UOP's (like restricting navigation during playback of some files or menus). DVD-A doesn't, but you can create the video_ts folder and alter the ifo file with Ifoedit and do just that. Hearing about the feature in another app may lead to finding a workaround in the one you own. When this forum first started, no one was talking about greater end user function control. Others brought up this deficiency (based on their experience with other apps), and now it's referenced rather frequently. Some lacking functions seem to strike a chord with a number of users, and others don't. In either case, maybe it gives Sonic an idea of what the hard core user base would like to see with the next version.

In terms of the playlists, I'd be curious as to how you'd like to see DVD-A offer greater end user control(like your 'play all' example). There is the 'hard' way--access to GPRM registers and scripting, or a way that 'shields' the user from the complexities of writing the code (like playlists).

Welll...only one reference to DVD-SP (oops, now 2), but I think is was in a positive light?

Cheers,
Jim
