Playlist??....

I would love to have a playlist similar to the one in Sf available for Vegas.
The markers and regions are there!

Obviously you would need to be able to rearrange the arrangement from the playlist
and then apply that to the arrangement which would update accordingly.

Should be able to specify crossfades between sections as well.

Or have alternate ways of playing material , like where you could make the playback jump from Left cursor to Right cursor in order to skip a section insted of having to cut section to hear it.(maybe you can do that in V4??)

I use Vegas mostly for recording music as well as making all my own music on Vegas and SOFO seem to have the interface sorted except when it comes to moving sections around and rearranging.

Every computer based musician knows that moving sections around will have to be intuitive unless you want the interface to start colouring the way you arrange your music.

Besides , a playlist would could be an accident factor as well and there are never too many of those in a program.

Im sure that this would be a very useful function for a lot of user´s.

Is it possible to script this playlist somehow??

I'm a little confused about your request. You want Vegas to have a playlist like the one in Vegas? Doesn't Vegas already have whatever Vegas has?

Are you using Vegas as a player to listen to music? If so, that's really not what it's for. There are many music players available such as SIREN, WinAmp, MusicMatch, even WindowsMediaPlayer. These all support playlists that can be rearranged to your liking.

I'm wondering if you're talking about burning CDs. If so, then i agree that rearranging an existing selection of tracks could be easier. Most CD burning software shows a table with a list of tracks and it's easy to drag entries up or down the list to rearrange, or insert new entries in the middle of the list or delete them. But then again, most CD burning software doesn't support crossfades. If you don't need crossfades, then most of the player software i mentioned above will burn CDs from playlists too.

"I would love to have a playlist similar to the one in Sf available for Vegas."

Which means that i would like to have a playlist similar to the one in SOUNDFORGE available for use in VEGAS...:)

And i dont mean for playing music.

I would want this for say....

I have an arrangement , a tune with 50 tracks which is a bummer to move around if i sudeenly want the outro as an intro ,if i want to double a part or just play the arrangement in a different order.

If i could do this from a playlist or something where i could tell vegas to jump from marker 3 to marker 5 and then to region 7 and play that one twice.
And then when im satisfied i push the RE-arrange button and the arrangement will switch the parts around to reflect the choices i made in the playlist.

I dont know to me this would be a HUGE time saver as well as i said in my earlier post a tool to come up with ideas.

And as Vegas seems to have a near perfect interface i think this is where its lacking i.e Arranging and moving the big chunks around.

I think that the video guys might even like this ???

Maybe this is something that can be done in a script...?

Yeah...I just thought of that actually , that would be great !

I think this would be an invaluable feature , does anyone else see the potential or is it just me that wants this?

I’ve experienced something similar (I think) when adding media to a layout for Redbook burning to CD in VV3 - for me, the issue was the clunky way media is added, ie: each "track" is brought into the media pool, then you determine the track order by typing a number (or, I suppose, a letter) into the "comments" column, and then you sequence the whole selection by clicking on the top of the column header to rearrange the selection into ascending order. After all that's done, you're ready to add your tracks to the CD layout in the preferred order. It works, but it certainly isn’t intuitive – some “drag and drop” interface would certainly help here, and might even help with rearranging tracks in general as discussed already...

Anyway - just a thought – it’s a feature I’d like, anyway, but it certainly isn’t a show-stopper.

What about doing this in CDA ? Is CD the end destination for this material ?
