Daniel,

Nice job! It was more engaging when it was b&w, and some of the work you did with them on the path, fading together and the poses in the trees were really nicely done. Very well lit, too. I might've liked to see a little more quick cutting and some eye-candy effects, but that's just my particular taste. You should be proud of this, especially it being your first stab at a music video.

The song's too long, but that's not your fault : )

Mvpvideos2002,
Excellent work! Definitely on the right track and a terriffic first effort. I really liked the way you put it together and how it told the story contained in the song. There were quite a few effects used and I like that. I did notice a couple of things that may just be due to viewing on the web. First, some of the shots looked a little out of sync (especially the drum hits) as did some of the guitars. Also, try to do close ups on the guitar that is playing a solo or hitting the high note rather than on a different guitarist. As Jessariah mentioned previously, it was a little long but to counter that, put in some quicker cuts toward the end to get the viewers interest back. Overall, this is a really good show and much better than I have been able to do. Enjoyed it.
Aloha,
Randy

Randy, thanks alot. I think the internet is throwing of the sync a bit. I took a lot of time making sure it all synced up and was on time. Oh well, thats life, but I am glad you liked it and I always look forward to peoples opinions so I can do better the next time around. Thank you for taking time to watch it.

Windows wanted to install WMV-9VCM to view the video. Since there is NO WAY I want that on my computer I listened to the audio only. Not a "bad" sound but the lead singer's style of singing was the same as many other lead singers such as Pearl Jam, Creed, Hootie, etc. etc. "OOh you make me wanna live a-ga-yun". Personally I am sick of that style of singing.

nice job. you shot some great footage. very clean and professional. however there is no velosity to the editing or shots. The rhythm of the song mid tempo and the edits match that tempo. try some edits at double time. I'm not talking twitch stuff but more velocity. Especially of the band on stage. Lighting is great and even but a tad boring. No colors. The black backdrop does not cover on your wider shots. I would dirty up the band shots with filters (not sure which one) to give it a rougher feel (not quite super 8 film) and cut quicker on the musicians, especially the drummer and bassist. Overhead pan on drummer is nice but too slow.

I really liked the trees part of the video and the end shot with the brooding sky. Work off some of those ideas. Try cutting in some of the time lapse stuff out there of sun rise/set or clouds rolling over a mountian etc. I find that videos that focus too long on a main characters (band members, love interest etc) get boreing. The trees are nice because of the contrast it has to the whole "black" power chord rock thing.

It's easy to spout this off the top of my head because I have never tried to do what you have done. But I do have an eye for production value and I compose/produce music which follows many of the same rules as video. Please forgive me if I am a bit presumptious in my critique.

You made a really clean easy to watch video. Just keep in mind it has to catch not our eye but the eye of those who listen to this music. Great job.

Hey Jack, I was considering to add some quicker cuts in the video, but I wanted to maintain for the most part, the flow of the song and video. We are working on a second video now which is much more fast paced with lots of fast cuts and effects. This video here, was more of a layed back one. I wanted something that had alittle class for their first video. I really appreciate your time and comments on the video. Thank you:)
