Please Help !

I have Sony Vegas Movie Studio 6.0 which I have previously used successfully, although it was some time ago. I've just loaded it onto my new machine (with Window 7), and spent a ridiculous amount of hours creating a new project.

The error messages seem to centre on where I've saved the project. When I click on 'Make Movie' > Burn to DVD, where (which folder) should I save the 'video file path' and the 'audio file path' ?

When I get to DVD Architect, I'm getting "The file <c:\ (where it's saved).dar> is not a valid project. Whatever I try and change only brings a different error message. I'm exasperated.

Thanks,

Ian

First not too many people use the 'Make Movie' button, as there is a much better way. However, in this situation try saving the project from Vegas on your desktop (no forlder), then use that location for DVDA. Let us know if that helps. Cin

Hi Cin,

I've rendered the movie again and there are now three files on my desktop - an .mpg file, an SFL file and a .wav file.

When I send it to Architect, click 'Make DVD' and then 'Prepare', it says 'prepare to folder' - c:\users\user\AppData\Local\Temp\MyDVD\Untitled

When I click on 'next' it says "The selected folder is not valid. It is either not possible to create the folder or you do not have write access."

Thanks for any advice,

Ian

I never voluntarily use "user" any folder that Windows has set up for any reason whatsoever.

Try something like this: create a new folder named c:\vidoeprojects\ (or on another drive if you have one). Now under that folder create one for each new project like c:\videoproject\kristas_birthday_party\ (or whatever is appropriate). Save all your source video and project files for that project in that folder. When you render, render to that folder.

Now, in DVD Architect, tell it to use something like c:\videoprojects\kristas_birthday_party\temp\ for it's temporary folder, and when it prepares use something like c:\videoprojects\kristas_birthday_party\dvd_prepare\. Sadly, while Vegas will remember your choices, DVD Architect usually needs to be re-educated every time you use it.

Using a scheme like this it's very easy to keep track of where you put everything. It's also very easy to back up and restore.

Using anything that Windows provides as a default is just mountains of headaches waiting to happen.

Hi,

I have followed all your instructions and it seems to work perfectly until the point where I am in Architect and I reach 'Make DVD' and 'Select Burn Parameters'...

- then there is a pop-up... "You are currently logged on to this computer without system administrator privileges. Some features of this program may not be available to you."

Give me strength ! :)

Can you bypass it and keep working?

I'm using my 3 month old home PC which is wired into a broadband hub. The wife and kids all use lap tops wirelessly.

I'm the only person who uses this computer. How would I bypass it ?

Thanks again,

Ian

Hello again,

I phoned the shop where I bought the PC and the tech guy did the remote access gig. It turns out I already had full Administrator Rights but that wasn't enough for Architect. Within Architect's 'Properties' > 'Compatibility' there is a check box for 'Run As Administrator' which was unchecked.

All sorted, DVD burned, so very happy.

I am eternally grateful for your advice, your assistance and your patience. Thank you SO much !

Hi, I am having the same exact problem that this person was having. I must be missing a key step in your solution that you so kindly wrote up. Could you walk me through it with maybe some more detail? I created a video projects folder in my C drive. I then opened Vegas Movie Studio. I saved the document to that C drive folder. Next I selected make a movie. I named and saved both the video and audio paths to the C drive and saved. This time the Movie Studio did not ask me if I wanted it to be sent to DVD Architect. I proceeded to open Architect and tried to open the saved folder on C drive. It indicates there is nothing there. Can anyone help me?
