please Help - converting A/V to D/V

I have VMS plat 7 in a PC/XP; Sony HC96 camcorder and a Sony VX555 vcr/dvd player.

I am attempting to convert VHS home movies to my PC, hopefully, using VMSp7 . When i attempt it, the audio is good but the video would be on for a second and it goes blank. The commands to 'capture' video is grayed out.

Does this mean I do nat have the capability?

First thing to try is in VidCap, go to Options / Preferences / General and UNcheck the box marked "enable DV device control". See if that takes care of it.
