PLEASE HELP: Problem with Importing!

I have VideoFactory 2.0c and it DOES NOT import any video files (mpg, mpeg, avi) and says:

"Warning: An error occured while opening one or more files.
The requested plug-in does not have the necessary features unlocked."

AND -- it says that when I try to open and .avi (which says in the "Supported formats" in the import dialog box that .avi IS indeed supported, it says the same top line and then:

"The file is an unsupported format."

Why is it doing this? The ONLY video file I could open was one I made and exported as an .avi in ADOBE PREMIERE! Rather odd. Well, I really need to fix this or this whole entire program is a waste of time. Thanks!

First off, I wouldn't try to edit any compressed media like MPEG unless you have a lot of patience. Second, are the AVI files you are using ones that you captured or ones you pulled of the web? If you pulled them off the web they might have been compressed with a codec that is not supported by VF.
