please help with a hard drive question

hi there. I've been having terribly bad results lately with my renders to mpeg2 for dvd. They are coming out slightly studdery and sort of ghosty. It was suggested to me to get a new hard drive to dedicate soley for my project and I have made the purchase. It is faster than my current one so my question is ......... Do I want the best hard drive to be dedicated to my operating system or do I want the best one to be dedicated to my project files? Which set up will give me the fastest and cleanest render?

Rendering and quality of an MPEG should not be related to the harddrive. Rendering speed is controlled by the Processor ( and memory to some extent). A second harddrive is helpful for capturing and outputting. Generally, you want the faster, larger drive for your media files. (not always, but most of the time).

If you are getting a stutter in your DVD files, look elsewhere. Rendering does not rely on speed of drive.

hmmm. but I do have a fairly fast processer and good memory..my processer is intel 4 1.60 GHTZ and my memory is 1024 MB RAM

You can try changing which fileld first and if you have any slo mo
make sure you are resampling and set quality to best. Sometimes the CBR
setting in the MPEG2 codec will cause jerks and if you have captured film
that was put to tape the codec sometimes goes nuts trying to capture the
3x2x2x3 pulldown. Also excessive noise. Of course this is assuming all is
right with your machine.

wow.. you called it jjkizak. I had failed to mention that my glitches are only during segments that slo mo. I hate to ask as it shows my lack of good knowledge, but can you explain to me better about what you were saying as far as "resampling" and "field orders"?
