Plextor DVD-RW

Hi all, i just purchased a Plextor 708A DVD-RW drive, works okay within WindowsXP/Nero etc. But, DVDA will not see it as a drive??? Cannot use it to burn a DVD!
My other drive is a Pioneer A06 - works okay, had a Sony DRU-500 which also worked okay. Why is the plextor drive not supported with DVDA?

Sony, what are doing to me? I bought this drive because it will burn 8X DVD+R. Is there an update I should know about or do have no choice but to return it and buy something else? I'm using DVDA ver1.0c.

Thanks in advance.

Frank

I'm using my plextor in DVDA. Have you check for firmware updates for your drive?

I too am trying to use this burner.

I have updated the firmware to version 1.04 (Dec 16,2003), however, DVDA still does not recognize the drive when. Perhaps it is that I am trying to burn -D disks (Ritek 4x DVD -Rs).

Have you had any luck burning _R's or are you just using RW disks?

Currently I am using DVDA to burn the files and then using Nero to burn them to disk. I am assuming that Nero is not recompling the files but I don't know that for sure.

I can't burn a thing - it doesn't even show up under 'device' in DVDA. It is greyed out?? I'm going to return it and pick up another Sony or Pioneer.
I don't have the time to mess around with different apps for burning.

It's too bad because Plextor makes one of the better drives. Oh well, got to move on. Good Luck to you!

I'm using both DVD+R and DVD+RW discs...Are you using Intel's application accelerator?

Plextor has support articles posted on its web page. There may be some help there. My Plextor DVD writer gets the message Error 1327. Invalid Drive. There is support to correct this but I haven't worked through this yet.

Mine is recognized and I am able to burn with +R but these are coasters. I have not tried -R. I too use another program to burn DVDecrypter which aside from doing what can be inferred from its name is an excellent freeware ripper/burner with which I have had zero compatibility issues/coasters with. I don't fault Plextor and DVDA has plenty of problems with other burners, just search the forums.

If you are shopping for another drive, I use the Sony DRU510-A, works great, burns everything.
