plextor px712UF incompatible?

I just bought a Plextor PX712UF external drive, updated it´s firmware to the latest, also updated cd architect5 to the latest version. i always get an error message when the lead-in has been burned and cd architect is trying to write the tracks.
"The command failed due to a IOCTL error. Your interface or drive may be configured incorrectly."

I had that same problem with my internal drive. When i called for support, they told me to update my cd architect software and my drive firmware. Try it....... it might work...
