Plug for VASST Ultimate S Pro

For those of you who might be like me, you know enough to be dangerous with Vegas Pro, and know enough to know you really don't know exactly what you are talking about, but never let that stop you, sort of that intermediate skills level with lots of good ideas and wondering how to pull them off, without spending the rest of your life staring at a computer screen, searching this forum for answers, especially when people like Nick and Kimberly are scuba diving all day long (really makes me sick)... anyway...

Well, I was tired of clicking and dragging the same things over and over and over for simple things like fades in and out, marker placement, graphic length, etc., my mouse clicking hand was killing me, and even after getting good advice about audio I just never could quite get it to sound right, sitting here, missed dinner, wife thinks I'm an idiot.

So I stumbled on Ultimate S Pro by VASST, and in one day I think it has paid for itself, automated lots of tedious tasks, and it has simple audio effects that make the audio really nice, better than acceptable, even sounds professional. I know Wave Hammer can do it, but I'm not sure I was ever going to properly figure it out.

Video editing is not what I do, but I'm doing it. I'm a pilot, I should be flying. Last weekend inside, thank goodness this VASST software is helping me meet a personal deadline.

If anyone knows something better than Ultimate S Pro, I'm all ears, but for now, this VASST software is nice.

I'd like to hear more about the audio effects. Can you elaborate more than what's on their website about how it can help your audio sound better? Thanks!

Not sure what is on their web site, but I used to do a lot of clicking to create a Volume Envelope, then add points, then drag the volume of the music down so it would not drown out the talking, all that is automated very easily. That is a wonderful audio time saver.

Additionally, there are audio presets, with names such as Power Voice, Female Voice Over, Male Voice Over, telephone Voice, and many others which with a single click add multiple audio effects for various kinds of sounds. I think they add the Sony audio effects, VASST has simply done the work of determining which effects to add and what settings to apply.

For example, PowerVoice adds Track EQ and Track Compressor and also tweaks their settings. I spent two days trying to do that myself to get a good pleasing sound, never knowing quite what effects to add, or which way to adjust them. With Ultimate Pro S took me about fifteen minutes, and sounded better. I added back a little mid-range, took down a tiny bit of low end just to make myself feel good, like I did something myself, saved the preset, sat back in my chair like a big shot.

Sure, you can do all this right in Vegas if you know how, I simply did not have the experience to make it happen, don’t have the time to learn it, the geeks at VASST did it for me. That is what I meant by it makes my audio sound better.

I added these feature to the toolbar so I drop the tracks onto the timeline, reach up, click Apply, done. Also, a nice Setup feature for loading tracks to a blank timeline for repetitive work. Lots of other stuff I have no idea.

I never really understood why there was a clamoring for scripts, now I know. I am creating many similar videos and this will save hours of time and give me a better product, so I was glad to find it. Even went home and had dinner with the wife.

I addition to what Barry said, Ultimate S Pro comes with a custom audio plug-in from iZotope that you never see but our presets use it under the covers. So some of the FX cannot be recreated in Vegas Pro alone unless you use something like iZotope Ozone (which is the engine behind the plug-in that VASST gives you).

Thank you Barry for the glowing review. You have captured the essence of what we have done. There are a lot of presets in Ultimate S Pro created by some very talented people like Douglas Spotted Eagle, Jeffrey Fisher, David Jimerson, etc. that allow you to use their favorite FX chains in your productions without you having to know anything about how they are created. No other script plug-in has this. Perhaps we should advertise this more. ;-)

The audio "Duck Music" and "Photo Montage" features save a lot of time in these two areas.

Stating the obvious, when I tweak video i am able to sometimes pause it, stare at it, or oftentimes compare "before and after" on split screen, but not so with audio, pause it and it's gone, and I find the "over and over and over" listening requirement difficult to get it just right, particularly when I am not entirely comfortable with all those controls on all those effects.

That is why I really appreciated the Presets. As I added each, and then examined the details, it became clear these were concocted by people who knew what they were doing. I chose the one closest to my needs, very slight tweaking, and quickly had the desired sound. For me, the Presets in some software simply saves my time, which is great, but these Presets created audio which I could not do myself, no matter how much time I spent, so that was doubly nice. Probably unnecessary for the Vegas Pro old timers, but nice for me.

Yeah John, my two cents, if you are not promoting the experience that was devoted to those Presets and how much time they can save and how they might help you achieve a sound difficult to produce on your own, you might be missing some positive marketing. After using the trial, I was enthusiastic to buy the software.
