Plug in for Zooming?

When we use the zoom tool on a video clip it's immediately apparent that the more you move in with your zooming that the quality of the vision you are left with quickly diminishes. Since the image size of 720 x 576 (Pal) is quite small to start with, everything should be done to maintain the quality of the original.

I know that when dealing with still images, any lab that wants to blow up a photo to poster size will employ extra software to assist in this regard. Is there some program plug in available for video similar to Lizartech's 'Genuine Factals' which is used for stills available to help do this?

resample. But if you are zooming in very tight, there is nothing really more that can be done. Vegas upsamples/resamples better than any nle in the world. That's one place it shines. You can start improving by adding a slight pyramid blur to the image, just a small value, but if you are dealing with the idea of shooting a DV image, never designed to be printed in the first place, up to a poster, it just ain't gonna happen. Might be nice, but that's not an NLE function. Vegas IS already doing everything possible to retain integrity. Resample, subpixel accurate, and a great codec. That's about all there is at the video level. I don't believe, or at least I'm unaware of any third party software that does this. Especially not as well as Vegas. Supersample if you want to try anything else beyond what you are doing.
There is a supersample tutorial on the www.sundancemediagroup.com/home1.htm website. Go to the tutorials, you'll see it there. It's also on the DMNforums.com website.

What tool are you using to zoom? If you use Pan/Crop, it will use the full resolution of a still image. If you use Track Motion, it will zoom in on the displayed video image.

I wish S-Spline could work on video. It has the best quality enlargement I have ever seen.
