pluggins ??

So, I have followed loosely the upgrade path for Vegas Pro. Am now up to version 10. Made a live recording this evening only to discover that a dimmer switch left on caused a buzz in my recording. That used to be a simple thing to eliminate, however, searching the resources in version 10, I cannot seem to find anything close to the EQ pluggins that used to offer presets that dealt nicely with this sort of thing.

What am I missing?

Thanks.

Some kind of noise reduction plug-in would usually be the first choice. iZotope's RX-3 (and 4) is highly regarded, the advanced version ain't cheap though.. around $1k. I don't know if SCS NR-2 is bungled with VP. It's included with SF Pro. There are other third party restoration plug-ins available as well as SCS Spectral Layers. Without actually hearing your "buzz" it's difficult to recommend a procedure. Post a clip..

Sony's Noise Reduction v2 works very nicely for this kind of thing.

As rraud mentioned it is bundled with Sound Forge Pro.

Any Pro version.

Bought separately at $279 it isn't all together that cheap,
but certainly less than other options out there and usually at least as good.

You could try an EQ plug-in, perhaps even the one that ships with Vegas might work for you.

Depending on the noise or buzz you are trying to remove, if you can set the "Q" fine enough, so as to have it behave like a notch filter, you may be able to remove the buzz, or hum, without altering, and/or damaging the audio too much.

Good luck,
Will
