split the audio file and place the last word into its own audio track. If you cut the file a bit before the word you can ramp the audio effect up gently instead of "full-on" which is what would happen if you cut it off right at the beginning of the word. Anyway, after you've split the file you can apply the plug-in effect JUST to the word itself.

Why not just add an envelope for that effect and bring it up when you want? Seems easier than splitting the audio and moving chunks of it to another track. Then all your EQ and other settings are in one place.

Of course, you add the effect to the mixer window, not the track in this case....DE

Yes, just add the delay plug as an assignable effect and insert an efx envelope on your vocal track. Draw the envelope where and how you want the delay to happen.

To insert an assignable FX you open the mixer (Alt-3) and click on "Insert FX" or whatever it says. This effect can then be mixed in with any number of track outputs by controlling the FX1 fader (click on the little arrow beside the Pan indicator).

By controlling the FX1 fader for any track, you can send whatever you want through the plug-in.

Then, when you right-click on the track, you'll have another envelope option "FX1", which you click on to insert another envelope. It's fully controllable, so you can send the signal at any level to the plug-in at any time. Perfect for adding delay to one word in a sentence, or whatever.
