Plugin delay on last word on vocal track

How do i effect only the last word on my vocal track with a plugin, not the whole track. Im using a waves delay and i know how to work the plugin, but im having a hard time just applying it to the last word in the vocal track. I seem to be adding it to the whold track.

The two options I can think of are:

1) Split the clip so that the section you want to modify is a separate clip
2) Use Keyframes

Vegas doesn't currently use keyframes for audio fx. What you'll need to do is set up the delay as an assignable FX in the mixer window (not on the track itself).

Then on the track with the vocal, right click on the track name and choose 'Insert/Remove envelope -> fx1' (assuming fx1 is the delay).

An envelope will appear for the entire length of the audio track. Moving it the the bottom sends no audio to the delay fx. The higher the envelope, the more signal is sent the the fx. You can add points along the line (shift+left click or double click or right click and choose 'add point') so that the envelope can stay a -inf until the last word, where you would want to make it go up to a higer level.

Neat. I didn't know "envelopes" could be created like that. The possibilities seem endless in this program!
