Plugins / Filters for VV?

drdespair wrote on 7/18/2002, 4:56 AM
Other then the spice stuff and the official filter/transition addon are there any plugins out there to buy or for free? i know there used to be an SDK for the older versions of VV dont know if anyone did anything good with it, is there perhaps a plan to have VV be able to use any of the Abobe Photobob/AfterBob/Bobmiere plugs?

Cheers,

D.

I second your request for more integrated effects. SF: Are there are any good 3D Titling Programs that work in VV3.0c? I currently use FontFX http://www.erain.com/ (click on "products" icon) they have a free and a full version for only $25 bucks or so. It allows you to make custom logos and titles that can be rendered to an AVI or BMP file. I have also tried Crystal Graphics' 3D Impact Pro. Neither of these 3D Titling products "plug-in" to VV.
Thanks,
Steve

Vegas already has a good sample of transitions. The truth be known most transitions are way over used. When was the last time you saw a Hollywood release on the big screen with a page curl, vertical blinds or some kind of wipe or shutter, groan, some 3D effect between scenes? You don't. Almost all cuts are plain and dirty simple cuts, once in a rare happening you may see a fade to black or white or a simple disolve.

Hint: If you want your project to look more "professional" limit the the so-called eye candy and focus on CONTENT and learning to do crisper editing. Just my two cents. :-0)

Want to see an excellent job of film editing, go see Road to Predition with Tom Hanks and Paul Newman. Sam Mendes knows his stuff.

I hear what you are saying billyboy but... our needs for plugins are dependant on the type of video you are producing. For corporate work and advertising, 3D effects and transitions are the norm. They are like spice. Use with caution but expected to keep attention of the viewer. I would hate to see those type of effects and transitions in documentary work or Short films.
As far as I can tell there are no direct 3D plugins for Vegas but nothing is stopping you from using 3D programs and keying them into your projects, TGA files with alpha channels etc...
It just increases your render time.

A few months ago, SF came out with a transition/filter package that has some 3D transtions. Go to the Vegas page and you'll find it.
I use transtions for graphics pages and text more than video. Also know that fx/filters can be keyframed into transitions.

HPV,

"fx/filters can be keyframed into transitions"

Could you elaborate about that? How do you do it? which fx/filters do you use to make the transitions?

thanks

I did a search for one of my post about fx/filters as transitions. This one will give you an idea of what I'm talking about.

I'll try to grab some time and post some better info about doing this.
